Kurt is now responsible for the automotive energy storage initiatives for Sila Nanotechnologies that is developing 21st century silicon anode technology.

He is also an Advisory Board Member at BP and between 2017 and 2019 was Senior Vice President – Operations at indoor farming innovator, Plenty Inc, a firm backed by Amazon’s Jeff-Bezos.

Kurt Kelty, Vice President– Automotive, Sila Nanotechnologies said:

“Building and scaling battery megafactories is critical to meet the future power needs of our devices, vehicles and the grid.”

“I’ve been on the front lines of this throughout my career, and look forward to sharing my experiences and lessons with others who are leading similar efforts around the world.”

Simon Moores, Managing Director, Benchmark Mineral Intelligence said:

“Kurt is quite simply one of the most influential professionals in the lithium ion battery industry to date.

“The experience Kurt has gathered from his 15 years at Panasonic in Tokyo was the foundation for Tesla and the resulting success of the Roadster, Model S, Model X, Model 3 and, finally, the original Tesla Gigafactory in Nevada.”

“The supply chain blueprints that Kurt and his teams have created, all the way from the raw materials through to the final battery cell, are what the industry is building upon today.”
