Benchmark appointed primary data provider for Veramark's Responsible Metals Value Chain Platform

Benchmark Mineral Intelligence has been appointed primary data provider for Veramark's new Responsible Metals Value Chain Platform, giving companies across the copper value chain a shared, independent view of the market they operate in.

Veramark, formerly the Copper Mark, launched the platform on 28 October. It brings together miners, smelters, refiners, fabricators, recyclers, traders, manufacturers and financial institutions to work on shared challenges, from traceability and transparency to greenhouse gas emissions and recycled content. More than 20 companies have already signed up as Value Chain Partners, adding to Veramark's assurance coverage of over 140 upstream sites.

Responsible sourcing decisions rely on a clear picture of where copper is mined, refined and used. Through the platform's Value Chain Online Hub, partners get exclusive access to Benchmark copper data: five years of global and regional mine and refinery supply, refined and total demand, and end-use demand broken down from electrical infrastructure into grid, generation, storage and data centres. The dataset is refreshed every six months, with a concise Benchmark market summary accompanying each update.

The partnership extends Benchmark's copper coverage to the companies working to make the value chain more responsible, at a time when electrification, grid investment and data centres are reshaping demand.
