Battery demand surpasses 1TWh in the first seven months of the year

Battery demand from January to July 2026 has now surpassed 1TWh, equivalent to the total demand of 2023, Benchmark’s data shows. “While EV demand continues to dominate, BESS continues to take a growing share of battery demand, increasing to 21% in the opening months of 2026,” said Iola Hughes, head of research at Benchmark.
